- ➤ The Everhart Museum in Scranton will launch a new NASA exhibit featuring a Hubble Telescope replica on January 14 (as staff and NASA specialists complete setup), offering interactive displays over a six-month period. FOX 56
- ➤ Everhart Museum now displays Don Clark’s famed miniature city, featuring a tiny train, courthouse, and local landmarks crafted to scale. New owner Chris Munley spent over 250 hours restoring the collection (which first appeared in 1977) and hopes a permanent home is found soon. FOX 56
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Under a new law, state schools must notify parents within 24 hours if any weapon is found on campus, including on buses or at events. The rule takes effect this new year and aims to keep students safe. FOX 56
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ University of Scranton political science professor Michael Allison said US troops captured Nicolás Maduro in a surprise operation over the holiday weekend, noting that the move reflects decades of US policy and raised concerns because Congress was not informed beforehand (he questioned potential global impacts). - ➤ Motorists in Pittston will face an overnight detour as PennDOT temporarily closes Route 11 (North Main Street) for test drilling from 8 p.m. Tuesday until 6 a.m. Wednesday. Drivers should follow detour signs on Kennedy Boulevard to ease traffic delays. FOX 56
