CULTURE NEWS

  • WVIA’s Sarah Scinto and Julie Sidoni remembered WNEP’s Mike Stevens, a longtime voice in Northeast Pennsylvania who worked with Sidoni for 20 years and traveled the Pennsylvania Road for 40 years. His legacy was honored on WVIA Radio after he died Dec. 30, 2025 (he was 81).  WVIA
  • Today, St. Adalbert’s Church in Glen Lyon held its final mass as the last Roman Catholic church in Newport Township closed after 137 years, citing low attendance and financial challenges. Parishioners will transfer to nearby St. Faustina and Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parishes.  WNEP
  • Everhart Museum is previewing its new Hubble Space Telescope exhibit on the second floor starting Wednesday; visitors saw a sneak peek this weekend (featuring a scale model, photos, and repair details) as staff finalized the displays, and the exhibit runs until July.  FOX 56

HEALTH NEWS

  • The community gathered last Sunday at Waldo's Tavern on Greenridge Street to raise funds for Tiffany Mongiello's uncovered cancer treatment costs, featuring live music, food vendors & raffles. Friends said Tiffany felt buoyed by the overwhelming support as she continues her fight against cervical and thyroid cancer.  WNEP
