ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Authorities responded to a train derailment near a gas station behind Moosic Road in Old Forge on Monday, Jan. 26; there is no threat to the public and roads remain open as crews assess the situation.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Emergency officials in Scranton and Lackawanna County have extended Code Blue Frigid Weather Alerts for each night this week as wind chills drop below 20 degrees (with a low of minus 21 degrees expected Thursday night). Emergency shelters are available during the alert periods at St. Anthony’s Haven, Weston Field House, and the Community Intervention Center.  FOX 56
  • Snow removal crews worked long hours Sunday and Monday to clear roads in Scranton and throughout Lackawanna County amid heavy snowfall plus icy conditions. Their continuous efforts ensured residents could travel safely despite the challenging weather.  WNEP
