- ➤ Dolly, a 6-year-old Lhasa Apso/Poodle mix with an irresistible face, has been fostered by Friends with Paws Pet Rescue in Scranton since November and is ready for adoption by a family who can manage her energetic behavior, training needs, and regular grooming. WNEP
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ After a massive fire destroyed its orthopedics institute, Lehigh Valley Hospital-Dickson City remained closed Thursday, forcing more than 70 patients to be evacuated to other hospitals and leaving its future uncertain. WVIA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Tenor Health acquired Commonwealth Health earlier this week, converting three hospitals—including one in Scranton—to non-profit status and losing about $683,183 in property tax revenue. Local officials say they will seek a payment in lieu of taxes to help ease the revenue shortfall while keeping health care available. WNEP
- ➤ On Feb. 6, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reduced speed limits to 45 mph on I-84, I-81 and I-380 in counties — Lackawanna, Wayne, Luzerne, Susquehanna and Monroe — with commercial vehicles required to remain in the right lane. The changes were made to manage traffic safely during heavy travel. PA Homepage

- ➤ Cold weather has put older homes in Scranton at risk for blocked chimneys and carbon monoxide hazards as their terracotta chimneys freeze — A1 Affordable Chimneys cleared 50 blockages since January and advises homeowners to inspect chimneys and test their carbon monoxide alarms. FOX 56
