- ➤ University of Scranton students offer free VITA tax help for Lackawanna and Wayne residents with incomes up to $67,000 until April 8. Hours are Monday 9 to 3, Tuesday 12 to 5, Wednesday 9 to 3, and Friday 9 to 1, with service closed Mar. 16 and 20. WNEP
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Johnson College in Scranton received a $199K Manufacturing PA Training-to-Career Grant—administered by the PA Department of Community and Economic Development—to help 15 RISE students with tuition, protective gear and essential tools. The grant supports training in fields like Welding, Electronic Engineering and Mechatronics. FOX 56
- ➤ Valley Community Library is offering beginner ASL classes monthly through May for community members ages 8 and older. The next session will focus on St. Patrick’s Day vocabulary on March 2 at 5:30 p.m. in Peckville — taught by Nicole Miller and Daphne MacLeod. FOX 56

- ➤ Residents whose disabilities began before age 46 can apply for PA ABLE this year to save up to $19,000 annually. The program helps Pennsylvanians fund future needs. WVIA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State health officials are working with hospital management to prepare the fire-damaged facility for reopening, but no reopening date has been set. The hospital remains closed and offers a FAQ page for patient care while more than 500 employees continue to be paid. WVIA
