- ➤ Winterfest at Lackawanna State Park (North Abington Township) gave families a chance to try snowshoeing, guided hikes, birdwatching, and campfire cooking on Saturday. Organizers said the event showcased the park as a year round spot for outdoor fun. WNEP
- ➤ The United Nations declared 2026 as the International Year of the Woman Farmer to honor local women driving our food systems, and community events will mark this recognition in Northeast and Central PA— including a new show at Willow Wisp Organic Farm scheduled for Nov. 12 to 15. WVIA
- ➤ On Saturday, a Valentine’s Day pet adoption event took place at Blind Cat Beer Company — a local venue in Luzerne County — where cat lovers adopted two cats while Kitties of NEPA Pet Fund and Rescue continues its efforts to rehome more felines. WNEP

- ➤ First responders from Scranton and Wilkes-Barre faced off in the inaugural Battle of the Badges hockey match at Mohegan Arena at Casey Plaza in Wilkes-Barre Township today, with Scranton winning 11-7. The event drew roughly 500 fans and featured teams of firefighters, police and paramedics—marking a spirited debut for the friendly rivalry. WNEP
