  • After a community rally at Last Minute Brewing Company (in Scott Township) on Saturday, veteran Walter Tompkins is preparing for a 560-mile charity bike ride from New York City to Niagara Falls to raise funds for cancer research.  WNEP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Keystone College students in Lackawanna County are making maple syrup at the Sugar Shack by drilling sap holes in trees and boiling the sap until its sugar content rises to about 67%. The process uses a vacuum system and holding tanks and takes over eight hours.  WNEP

  • WVIA News launched a three-day series on online gambling that warns of youth exposure to sports betting and video-game loot boxes, while state agencies introduced free resources and a 'What's Really at Stake' campaign to help families and educators spot warning signs.  WVIA

  • The University of Scranton women's basketball team lost its national championship game Saturday, falling 55 (41) to Denison University at the Cregger Center in Salem and ending its historic 32-1 season.   • The NEPA quad racers’ eastern championship took place Saturday in Pittston at the State of the Art Drone Academy — featuring more than a dozen pilots who qualified during winter monthly events as they competed in indoor drone racing.  WNEP
