EDUCATION NEWS

  • Kalmin Katz of Jackson plans to purchase the closed Clarks Summit University campus at 538 Venard Road to form the Abington Center for Education—an institution set to offer religious education and personal development with overnight stays. A public hearing is scheduled on April 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the Township Building on 104 Shady Lane Road to review the zoning changes.  WVIA

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scranton Mayor Paige Cognetti gave her state of the city address today at Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, outlining plans to improve public safety with new surveillance technology and grant funding. She also presented future projects (including phase two of the Nay Aug Pool) to boost local infrastructure and community resilience.  FOX 56

  • The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders will play their 5000th game in a road opener this Friday while planning major upgrades at PNC Field in Moosic.
