COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ NEPA Alliance and Fidelity Bank supported Mike O’Neil’s purchase of The Nyx in Clarks Summit. The funding (including an ARC loan for restaurant equipment) ensured locals will continue enjoying this popular bar and dining spot. The Abington Journal
- ➤ Abington Heights hosted its second annual ComProm on March 20, turning a play on words into a community prom with support from local vendors such as Danielle & Co., Epicurean Delight, EJ the DJ, and photographers. Organizers say plans for next year’s event during Disabilities Awareness Month are already underway. The Abington Journal
- ➤ Mountain View Garden Club will host the Plant Exchange and Market Place on Sunday, June 7 at Clifford Township Community Center and Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.— the plant sale begins at 2 p.m. and donations from the Second Hand Rose Flea Market will support local school grants. - ➤ The Scranton Cultural Center will host Bruce In The USA, a tribute show to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band, on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. (Doors open at 6:30 p.m. in the Harry & Jeanette Weinberg Theatre and tickets cost $40 plus fees.) The Abington Journal

- ➤ Father Bernard McIlhenny, known as Father Mac, turned 100 and was honored with a plaque unveiled at Scranton Prep's main entrance. Hundreds gathered at the school for a dinner celebrating his impact on the community (a milestone in local service). WNEP

- ➤ A memorial bowling tournament honoring late local bowler Phillip Jones (who died in a car accident in 2021) is underway today at Valley Lanes in Carbondale, where youth bowlers compete for college scholarships; winners include Gregory Masters, Liam Mulea, and Peyton Schley. WNEP
