- ➤ Lehman-Jackson Elementary School fifth grader Kendall Grabinski—the third champion from her school since 2020—won national cursive champion at the 34th annual Zaner-Bloser Handwriting Contest, beating 2,260 entries and earning a trophy and $500. - ➤ Homeowners in Lackawanna County received a new property assessment notice from Tyler Technologies that marks the first reassessment in nearly 60 years and recalculates home values using recent sales data. Tax rates are expected to drop and residents who find errors, such as extra measured square footage, can schedule an informal appeal or wait for a formal review starting on August 1 and running through October 31 (check your measurements closely).
