COMMUNITY NEWS

  • At PNC Field Saturday morning, 10,000 Easter eggs were scooped up in less than a minute by over 2,000 children during the first Champ's Free Easter Egg hunt hosted by the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. RailRiders president Shawn Reiley said the event brought local families together and is expected to become a yearly tradition.  WNEP
  • Volunteers with Sleep in Heavenly Peace built beds for children in need in West Wyoming on Saturday - the effort aimed to help kids sleep well and perform better in school before Easter.  WNEP

CULTURE NEWS

  • Hundreds gathered at St. Peter's Cathedral on Wyoming Avenue for an Easter vigil mass where the Paschal candle was lit and an Easter fire was blessed (with 300 new members welcomed by the bishop).  WNEP

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices have surged past $4 per gallon — with Pennsylvania averaging about $4.11 amid global oil supply concerns that are pushing up prices for groceries and deliveries in Scranton. Residents may see continued hikes as fuel costs ripple through everyday expenses.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Drivers in Lackawanna County face delays as PennDOT inspects I-81 on Monday, April 6 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. between Exit 188 in Dunmore (near Throop) and Exit 194 in Clarks Summit.  FOX 56
