Good morning, Scranton. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 10th of April.

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • U.S. Rep. Bresnahan Jr. wrote a letter to FEMA on Wednesday urging the agency to reinstate the Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities program. He said that canceling the program may force Scranton to raise an extra $2.5 million to fund floodplain restoration after the Sept. 9th flash floods caused nearly $25 million in damage and destroyed 459 residences—a move that could hurt public safety.  Go Lackawanna

HEALTH NEWS

  • Eddie Kaufman, a 20-year-old Mid Valley School District graduate and Roanoke College baseball player, was diagnosed with T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia last year and now needs a life-saving stem cell transplant.
