CULTURE NEWS

  • Marywood University's film club premiered its 15-minute film 'Cupid Shuffle' on Friday at the Everhart Museum — a romantic comedy with a supernatural twist made by about 30 students. The screening included a panel discussion and a second showing was held on Saturday at Nazareth Student Center.  FOX 56
  • Dunmore Candy Kitchen in Moosic has prepared traditional Easter treats, including chocolate eggs and baskets — a craft the shop has maintained since 1904. The business uses original molds to add a nostalgic touch that brings families together at Easter — a cherished local tradition.  WNEP
  • Scranton hosted the 14th Electric City Tattoo Convention this weekend at the Hilton where over 200 tattoo artists set up shops and visitors explored a variety of tattoo styles— the event will conclude at 8 p.m. today.  WNEP

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Over 200 local volunteers helped plant 395 spruce and pine trees at Montage Mountain on Saturday—using rakes and shovels to clear snow and reduce erosion. The reforestation effort is part of a community project called GROW that improves the resort’s slopes for future use.  PA Homepage

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Pennsylvania Treasurer Stacy Garrity said her office will try to recover $2 billion in payments made in error by over 70 state agencies. Her office found $1.7 billion in mistakes last year—errors by the Revenue Department hurt taxpayers—and she will work to cut waste and abuse.  FOX 56
  • Dickson City Fire Department is holding the State Fire Academy’s flashover simulator training today at Eagle Hose Company Number 1—teaching firefighters to recognize and react to dangerous conditions. Chief Rich Chowanec said the exercise benefits both new and veteran firefighters.  WNEP

HEALTH NEWS

  • Unionized nurses at Geisinger's Wyoming Valley facilities settled a labor deal late Friday after months of negotiations, avoiding a second strike. The contract boosts wages by 13 to 26 percent over three years and improves benefits (including affordable healthcare, mandatory rest for on-call duties and stronger workplace safety) that union members say will help rebuild local nursing care.  WVIA
