COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Tully's Restaurant in Clarks Summit is raffling Philadelphia Eagles memorabilia to support the Eagles Autism Foundation and aims to raise $10,000; raffle tickets are $5 each or five for $20 and the drawing will be held Thursday, April 23.  WNEP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • A long-vacant building in downtown Scranton will be redeveloped by a local firm and become a gateway for Lackawanna College health science programs. The project will deliver 34,000 sqft of modern classroom space and mixed-use areas by late 2026 — boosting local education for the community.  WVIA

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The borough council in Ashley re-zoned Bentley’s property for a planned cement and asphalt plant and now requires environmental tests before another hearing, as residents raised concerns about noise, water and air pollution (and heavy truck traffic).  WNEP

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • During Monday's zoning hearing in Archbald, residents returned glossy pamphlets sent by data center developer Cornell Realty Management, calling them propaganda. An expert predicted the Wildcat Ridge campus will generate 2,498 daily trips, fueling debate over traffic safety.  WVIA

SPORTS NEWS

  • Scranton has received a $100,000 grant to build a mini soccer pitch at Weston Field in partnership with Philadelphia Soccer 2026. Work will begin in May and is expected to finish by mid-June, adding a new sports feature for the community ahead of the World Cup fan zone events.  FOX 56
