- ➤ City officials cut the ribbon on a $1.1 million upgrade at Robinson Park to boost outdoor recreation in Scranton. The project added upgraded courts and walking paths (for families and visitors) and improved the park’s only lake (a spot for kayakers and anglers). FOX 56
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police charged a Massachusetts man after a burning power line in Duryea led them to a home where over 600 marijuana plants and equipment like heaters, fans, CO2 tanks and air filtration systems were found — evidence that caused the line to catch fire — and he now faces charges of manufacturing, possessing with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possessing drug paraphernalia and risking a catastrophe. - ➤ At the Lackawanna County Courthouse on Tuesday, opening arguments began in the trial of Shelton Miles, who is accused of fatally shooting 26-year-old Jose Tatis last March at a convenience store on North Main Avenue—Tatis, who left behind young children, was shot in the head while a clerk was injured in a second shot, and his fiancée Charlene Fanning expressed grief as his family watched the proceedings. - ➤ The University of Scranton hosted an event Tuesday afternoon—where hundreds of students spent time with dogs to ease end-of-semester stress. Officials said that petting the dogs helped lower stress hormones. WNEP

- ➤ UPMC’s Dr. Anna Muzio warned Scranton residents that springtime sports and yard work can cause injuries and advised warming up, cooling down, and using protective gear like closed-toe shoes and eye protection.
