ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A feasibility study for a 36-mile ATV trail in Lackawanna County was reviewed at a public meeting in Jessup — the study outlined that the project will require permission from 17 property owners and additional funding to develop a detailed plan. Study manager Steve Barber said the plan, which could boost local recreation and the economy, will move forward only after a master plan is prepared — officials warn it is not expected to happen soon. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Officials from PennDOT and PSP announced an upcoming Operation Yellow Jacket to boost work zone safety by monitoring how drivers slow down near maintenance trucks in Lackawanna County. They urged drivers to reduce speed and stay alert after over 1,200 crashes statewide last year led to 22 deaths and 550 injuries — a reminder that safe driving in work zones is crucial. FOX 56
- ➤ A state Senate Law & Justice Committee voted (7 to 3) on Tuesday to kill House Bill 1200 that would have allowed the Liquor Control Board to sell recreational marijuana, blocking a Senate floor vote. This decision jeopardizes key funding in Gov. Shapiro's proposed budget. WVIA
