EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Penn State trustees voted 25—8 to close seven branch campuses including one in Luzerne County after the spring 2026—27 academic year due to declining enrollment, regional redundancy and operational inefficiencies. The Scranton branch campus will stay open along with those in Hazleton and Schuylkill as the university continues investing in 13 locations. WNEP
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Josh Shapiro said on Thursday that more than 300,000 Pennsylvanians could lose Medicaid coverage if the 'Big, Beautiful Bill' passes—risking rural hospital closures and leaving the state unable to replace lost federal funds. The bill also extends tax breaks and is set to move to the U.S. Senate for further consideration. WNEP
