- ➤ The historic 75th UNICO All-Star Charity Football Game will be played Thursday at Wilkes-Barre Area High School Football Stadium and will use its proceeds to support local charities, with 75% dedicated to mental health programs. - ➤ Volunteers from the Iron Horse Society helped clean the tracks today at Steamtown National Historic Site to prepare for Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 — which will arrive on June 15 and remain until July 1 — sparking lasting community engagement. WNEP
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Deborah Hynoski Burnetti published a 392-page book that shares her family’s WWII love letters and memories from West Nanticoke. The book has been available on Amazon since last week and offers a look at a personal journey of love and loss. WVIA
- ➤ Dozens attended the Memorial Day event at the Wyoming Monument to honor fallen soldiers of the Battle of Wyoming. Organized by the Wyoming Monument Association and hosted by the 24th Connecticut Militia Regiment, the ceremony featured a reenactment of a church service (from 18th century America). FOX 56
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Sunday, the University of Scranton awarded over 900 bachelor's degrees during a ceremony held at Mohegan Arena on Casey Plaza near Wilkes-Barre. Graduate students also received their awards a few hours later. WNEP
