- ➤ On Memorial Day, families, veterans and citizens gathered at Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton to honor soldiers who died in the 50th annual ceremony—scattered showers cleared the morning and American flags fluttered—and 21 shots marked the tribute. WNEP
- ➤ Volunteers cleared overgrowth at Washburn Street Cemetery on Memorial Day to honor veterans—marking the first service since the nonprofit took over—and VFW Post 3451 helped with the ceremony. WNEP
- ➤ On Memorial Day Monday morning, the GAR War Memorial Association held a reenactment and ceremony at Dunmore Cemetery+ dozens wore historic uniforms while an accordion player provided live music. Children decorated soldiers’ graves to honor the fallen+ organizers from the Sons of Union Veterans led the event. PA Homepage
- ➤ A new non-profit called Christmas Miracles from Heaven held a first-of-its-kind event at Washburn Cemetery in Scranton — the group honored veterans with a 21-gun salute and taps after families requested Memorial Day ceremonies.
