CULTURE NEWS

  • Diva Productions and Actors Circle will host a Ladies’ Boston Tea Party at Tripp House on Sunday, June 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. Attendees can enjoy live music, refreshments and light fare, with proceeds supporting the production of the musical '1776.'  The Abington Journal

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scranton City Council met Tuesday to discuss homelessness and review a task force working to connect unsheltered residents with housing, food, and health services. Some council members urged more direct outreach through screenings and boots on the ground to tackle rising homelessness.  FOX 56
  • U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins met local farmers yesterday at Applewood Farm in Scott Twp as she signed a disaster declaration to ease losses from an April frost that hit Monroe County and 16 other counties. The measure lets farmers access emergency USDA credit — helping them plan for next season.  WVIA
  • Secretary Rollins signed a Disaster Declaration at Applewood Farm in Scott Township after an April freeze severely damaged local farms. The declaration, affecting 17 counties, unlocked USDA disaster aid—such as deferred loan payments—to help struggling farmers recover.  FOX 56
