- ➤ The public pool at Lackawanna State Park reopened today after four years of closure due to a vinyl liner problem and staffing shortages — it now has a new plaster liner, more lifeguards, weekend hours from 11 to 7, and discounted entry after 4 with free admission for kids under 38 inches. - ➤ The Recovery Bank hosted a cookout in Scranton Tuesday where neighbors enjoyed food + played games to build close ties and support recovery. FOX 56
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Earth Conservancy was awarded a $6.7 million AMLER grant from the PA Department of Environmental Protection to transform its Hanover 7A site — a former strip mine — into a community park with fields, a walking trail, and an inclusive playground. Work will include bulk earthwork, grading, and utility installation to create a new recreation hub for the Lower South Valley. Go Lackawanna

- ➤ Standard and Poor’s downgraded Lackawanna County’s credit rating from BBB to BBB- (affecting $12.025 million in general obligation bonds) while upgrading its outlook from negative to stable.
