- ➤ Women in Philanthropy awarded $42,000 in grants to seven local nonprofits (including Children’s Advocacy Center, Indraloka Animal Sanctuary, WRC, St. Joseph’s Center, Lacawac Sanctuary, Recovery Rises Foundation, and United Neighborhood Centers of NEPA) during its Spring Grants Meeting in Scranton this spring. - ➤ The Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce has announced the hiring of two summer interns for its Business and Leadership development division; Katherine Barnansky will work on business outreach and workforce initiatives, while Tessa Pollack returns to support marketing + communications. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Keystone College will launch an online competency based MBA program this fall. The program uses 16 week semesters and requires five years of work experience, marking the first such program in Northeast Pennsylvania. The Abington Journal
- ➤ The University of Scranton is accepting applications for Cohort 6 of its Nonprofit Leadership Certificate Program (NLCP), which will run from January 2027 through January 2028. The program helps prepare nonprofit leaders in Northeast Pennsylvania, and applications must be submitted by June 12 via the NCAC website. The Abington Journal
- ➤ The Abington Lions Club awarded scholarships to four Abington Heights seniors at the REFLECTIONS Award Ceremony held at Constantino’s in Clarks Summit. The winners (Ella Tourscher, James Mitchell, Cayd Sespico, and Sage LaCoe) will attend colleges for nursing, environmental studies, business, and criminal justice. The Abington Journal

- ➤ Lackawanna County officials are honoring EMS personnel during Emergency Medical Services Week for their lifesaving work in responding to emergencies (including first responders from various local agencies) in the region. FOX 56
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Area high school athletes can join the Champions Quarterback Camp this June with former Division 1 coach Pete Cordelli for classroom and field drills in reading coverage, passing, and college strategies. The camp runs June 17-19 in Peckville (931 Main St.) and registration closes on Wednesday, June 10. The Abington Journal
