COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ A prom focused on inclusion was held Sunday at Fiorelli's in Peckville in Lackawanna County, drawing 350 attendees from Beacon Specialized Living and local service agencies as the community celebrated friendship and connection. WNEP
- ➤ At Susquehanna Brewing Company, Pawsitively for the Animals hosted the second annual Pints for Paws fundraiser on Sunday, May 31 to support low-income households with pet care. Attendees enjoyed pints, live music, vendor booths, and raffle draws during the event. FOX 56
- ➤ Today, City Hall hosted the annual raising of the pride flag to mark the start of Pride Month. Local leaders including Mayor Paige Cognetti and a council member spoke to a growing crowd as the event celebrated its eighth year and month-long festivities are planned. FOX 56
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Vandals damaged Scranton’s Sturges Park (known locally as Pretzel Park) on N. Washington Avenue in the Green Ridge section when they knocked over trees and moved a park bench into the garden, prompting neighbors to repair the damage and ask the city for security cameras. WNEP
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Scranton's historic Big Boy 4014 will arrive at Steamtown on June 13 and meet its long-time counterpart Big Boy 4012. Residents will have a rare chance to compare two of the eight surviving Big Boy locomotives. FOX 56
