- ➤ PennDOT Secretary Mike Carroll said Paul Miller’s Law (which will take effect Thursday, June 5) bans hand-held cell phone use while driving. The law (named for Paul Miller Jr. who died in 2010 from distracted driving) is meant to save lives. Go Lackawanna

- ➤ Runners raced in the Inaugural Build-N-Athlete Race on Sunday from the Blakely Borough complex onto the Lackawanna River Heritage Trail, with choices of a 5K, a 10K, or a Fun Run for children—Build-N-Athlete is a non-profit that helps lift financial burdens for youth sports. The event, held to mark its first anniversary in May, provided free sports equipment to about 100 local kids—organizers said the race was well-run with plenty of water and support along the course.
