CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Historian Jake Wynn launches Letters from War: 1861, a blog featuring original Civil War letters by Coal Region soldiers that first appeared in local newspapers. Readers can follow daily entries today (marking the 165th anniversary of the war's start). WVIA
- ➤ Big Boy 4014 is coming to Steamtown on June 13 after a long cross-country journey. Its famous nickname comes from a worker writing it in chalk during construction + each day until then, a new fun fact about its history will be shared. FOX 56
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state House approved House Bill 1814 banning cell phones during the school day (approved Monday) and now sends it to the Senate; school districts must adopt the policy by the start of the 2027–28 school year, with exceptions allowed for medical or instructional purposes. WVIA
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Since January, The Wright Center’s Driving Better Health van has met patients experiencing homelessness on Monday and Friday mornings in Scranton to provide essential care. The mobile clinic will continue to serve residents on these days. WVIA
