  • Volunteers from 28/22 News are packing food boxes at CEO Weinberg Northeast Regional Food Bank as part of Nexstar’s Founder’s Day of Caring to help families in need in Luzerne, Lackawanna, Wyoming, and Susquehanna counties. CRIME NEWS

  • A Sayre man, Sean R. Hall, 45, pleaded guilty in March to 21 felony charges including operating a meth lab — raping victims, and he was sentenced Thursday, June 19, to 98 to 206 years in prison after investigators found drugs and evidence of sexual assault at his Linden Street home.  PA Homepage
  • Scranton businessman Bob Bolus is charged with two misdemeanors after he allegedly hit another vehicle with his tractor trailer during the No Kings protest last weekend — the Scranton Police Department found him at fault.  PA Homepage
  • Sean R. Hall, 45, of Sayre pleaded guilty in March to meth and rape charges and was sentenced on June 19 to a minimum of 98 years in prison—his drug charges run concurrently while his rape charges run consecutively.  PA Homepage

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lackawanna County is posting new assessed property values and appeal forms on its website today for over 102,000 parcels of homes, businesses, and farms. Owners must file appeals by Aug. 1 with hearings starting Aug. 4 at a storefront next to Electric City Aquarium and Reptile Den — the results will help set new tax rates for Jan. 1.  WVIA

HEALTH NEWS

  • Geisinger cut the ribbon today in Dickson City to open a new cancer center that will start seeing patients on Monday, June 23— the 61,000-square-foot facility has 22 infusion bays, 17 exam rooms and radiation treatment to meet growing local needs.  FOX 56

  • A historic church in Simpson that sat empty for a year was sold to a Carbondale couple who plan to convert it into 13 to 15 apartments — they will work with engineers to preserve its history as they begin construction within the next year.  FOX 56
