- ➤ Mayor Paige G. Cognetti announced a $25,000 grant today for the UNC Scranton Council of Literacy Advance Program (SCOLA) at the CEDAR Center in Scranton to boost adult literacy and language skills; the funding will help expand resources and supplies after serving 500 adults last year. FOX 56

- ➤ Old Friends, a band formed in 1975 that has played together for 50 years, is set to perform at the Dalton Fire Company Carnival and is welcoming new members from the Scranton area—continuing a strong local bond with their audience. WNEP
- ➤ The 28th Briggs Farm Blues Festival began Thursday and will continue today through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.—bringing music, food, and crafts with a Woodstock feel to the area.
