ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ Early Monday morning, heavy rains caused flash flooding at the 157-year-old Patterson Grove campground in Luzerne County and forced about 30 campers, including children and older residents, to evacuate as county EMS assisted with rescues and damage assessments. FOX 56
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Scranton police arrested Bobbie Pinko and Jesus Matias Marrero on July 13 for the July 7 stabbing of Nicholas Gursky—Gursky was hospitalized in critical condition while Pinko faces a charge of conspiracy to commit aggravated assault and Marrero faces charges including aggravated assault and robbery. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Monday morning, the Endless Dreams Animals shelter in Red Rock was hit by fast-moving muddy water from Kitchen Creek that swept away cages, fences, and food while leaving some animals stranded. Shelter owner Jessica Exley said local farmers helped move horses to safety and she will soon give antibiotics to larger animals—fortunately, all animals survived. FOX 56
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ PEMA director Randy Padfield sent a letter to his federal counterpart urging FEMA to revise proposals that would raise the damage threshold for federal disaster declarations—changes that could shift more spending to state and local governments.
