  • Groove Brewing in Scranton will host a fundraiser on Thursday at 6 p.m. to support Saint Joseph's Center Summer Festival—attendees can join a family ride, run and walk with activities timed by Scranton Running Company and led by the Anthracite Bicycle Coalition, plus enjoy live music, free giveaways, and a special beer called Pedal Power Peach.  WNEP

CRIME NEWS

  • A Lackawanna County man pleaded guilty Tuesday to third-degree murder and child endangerment after his one-month-old daughter died from blunt force trauma when he forced a bottle into her mouth, and he faces up to 45 years in prison — a sentencing date is set within 90 days.  WNEP
  • A Lackawanna County judge ordered immediate removal of all dogs from 421 Campbell Street—six of which were taken by rescue workers—to enforce a June 10 court order after 35 days of noncompliance, and a hearing will be held on July 22nd.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Scranton City Council approved an ordinance extending metered parking hours from 8am to 7pm and keeping Saturday parking free after Mayor Paige Cognetti announced the plan on Tuesday. The 4 to 1 vote aims to increase parking turnover by lowering street rates to $1 per hour while some local business owners + residents raised concerns over the decision.  FOX 56
