CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Weatherly couple were indicted on 59 counts—conspiracy, bank fraud, wire fraud and money laundering—for allegedly defrauding a 93-year-old and an estate of about $1 million between October 2022 and May 2023—federal prosecutors say they used the funds for personal expenses. FOX 56
- ➤ The Pennsylvania State Police warned Scranton residents about a phone scam where callers impersonate a State Police Troop Captain—falsely claiming violations of Megan’s Law or missed court dates and advising people not to share personal or financial information. FOX 56
- ➤ A Scranton man was arrested by the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office for possession of child pornography after detectives received a tip from Imgur regarding his Comcast cable account on Cedar Avenue—authorities seized evidence including a photo album labeled 'Paul's Love Obsession' and a digital photo frame with over 150,000 files. - ➤ Atmosfere Music Festival will take place on Saturday, Aug. 2 at the Ritz Theater on Wyoming Avenue in Scranton — 19 hip-hop and R&B acts including headliner Relic Rhymes will perform until midnight.
