CRIME NEWS

  • Scranton police charged Robert Jumper, 49, with arson and reckless endangerment after he allegedly poured gasoline on the porch of a multi-unit apartment building on the 500 block of New Street on July 26+ the Scranton Fire Department quickly contained the fire in the entrance area.  FOX 56
  • In Scranton, the red sand lining the sidewalks of Courthouse Square is part of a nationwide project to raise awareness about local human trafficking issues. Local advocates and officials say the project shows that trafficking happens close to home—reminding everyone to stay alert.  FOX 56
  • Scranton police are searching for Paul McGowan (38) who allegedly stabbed a woman along East Locust Street on Sunday during a dispute and are urging anyone with information to call (570) 348-4139.  WNEP
  • Scranton Police are searching for 38-year-old Paul McGowan—wanted for allegedly stabbing a woman during a domestic dispute on July 27 in the 800 block of East Elm Street—after he reportedly fled on foot when officers arrived, and anyone with information is asked to call the department.  FOX 56

  • Scranton Jazz Festival returns this weekend to celebrate its 20th anniversary with live jazz at 23 local venues — organizers said the free festival kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. and features a Tower of Power show on Saturday, August 2nd and a 17-piece big band on Sunday, August 3rd.  WNEP
