- ➤ Community events this weekend will bring food and fun as the Scranton-based Lebanese-American Food Fest serves Middle Eastern dishes and Luzerne County hosts the Plymouth Alive Kielbasa Festival with a parade at 11 a.m. and a sausage tasting contest at 2 p.m. on Saturday. - ➤ Police in Duryea charged a 54-year-old man on August 5 after a ChildLine referral led to an investigation of allegations that he sexually abused and threatened a child for two years—he was arrested at a home on Greeley Street and now remains in Luzerne County Correctional Facility as the investigation continues. - ➤ On Wednesday, families in Scranton attended a registration fair at McNichols Plaza Elementary School where students from kindergarten through 12th grade were enrolled and received free backpacks, books, and raffle prizes for the upcoming school year. Community organizations—MFHS, the Lackawanna County Children's Library, Outreach, Treasure House Child Development Center, and Scranton Counseling Center—helped families access additional local services. - ➤ A letter of intent signed last week by Commonwealth Health Systems lets Tenor Health Foundation move to acquire Regional Hospital of Scranton, Moses Taylor Hospital and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
