- ➤ Artists will paint live alpacas and feed them carrots during a Painting with Alpacas event on Saturday, Aug. 16 at Windy Haven Farm in Covington Twp, while Swap Scranton hosts a pop-up market and clothing swap at the Marketplace at Steamtown in Scranton from 12 to 5 p.m. Meanwhile, dragon boat teams will race on the Susquehanna River in Wilkes-Barre on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. WVIA
- ➤ Yesterday, Dunmore Health Care Center hosted its first vintage car show where residents and community members enjoyed 1950s and 1960s music, a cookout, raffle baskets donated by community partners, and a showcase of classic cars—money raised will support more community outings for residents. - ➤ A fire broke out on Burke Street in Dunmore at 3 a.m. Thursday and forced four people to leave their home — they are now staying with family while officials investigate the cause. WNEP

- ➤ Public school districts in Northeastern and Central Pennsylvania are set to start the 2025-2026 school year with dates from Aug 14th to early September. In Scranton, classes will begin on Aug 27th — each district follows its own schedule. FOX 56
