  • The 17th Annual Bell’ Italia Festival continues today at Hazle Township Community Park in Luzerne County as a budget-friendly event offering Italian food, contests, rides and a playground organized by UNICO Hazleton.   • Early Saturday morning, firefighters from Lavelle Volunteer Fire Company battled a tricky house fire on Reichwen Road in Butler Township—using 800 feet of hose to reach the flames and rescue a resident and pets—while reports did not note any injuries or displacements.  PA Homepage

CULTURE NEWS

  • Scranton Hindus ended the ten-day Ganesha Chaturthi festival with a vibrant parade and communal prayers at Nay Aug Park on Saturday — the event featured Indian music, colored powder, dancing, and a traditional clay Ganesha immersion. The community also shared a communal lunch of traditional Indian food that brought people together.  FOX 56

  • In Week 3 of the Super 16 Sports Final, the Lackawanna Trail Lions, who hold a record of two wins and no losses, faced Berwick on the road in Moosic—key highlights from the game showed a tough contest.  WNEP
  • Week 3 of the Super 16 Sports Final in Moosic saw teams from Districts II, IV, and XI play several lopsided games, including Lakeland facing Riverside. The teams will move on to future rounds—as the tournament continues.  WNEP
  • Riverside's Tavian Branch announced he will play for Penn State during his official visit to State College this weekend—he originally committed to Rutgers before deciding to switch. The Vikings senior lineman is set to join the team for the upcoming season.  WNEP
