- ➤ The Greater Scranton YMCA has collected new and gently used Halloween costumes since September and is now displaying them on two racks and three tables at its Dunmore location for anyone in need until October 9—donations are still welcomed and a Trunk or Treat is planned for October 22. FOX 56
- ➤ This weekend, the Dunmore Cemetery Tour offers a free historical walk on Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dunmore Cemetery — local actors bring the past to life, and Butler Township hosts a family-friendly Fall Festival on Saturday with a parade at noon and trunk-or-treat activities while the Carbon County Environmental Education Center celebrates 40 years from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Summit Hill. - ➤ Governor Shapiro visited Lackawanna County today and announced a $6 million plan to turn an abandoned mine site in Mayfield into a large logistics hub—expected to create local job opportunities and spur growth. The project, part of a $39 million statewide initiative and already supported by $15 million from the Department of Environmental Protection—will add 160 construction jobs and 700 permanent jobs when finished.
