CULTURE NEWS

  • Kailin of Earth Wellness Studio hosted a guided meditation called Walk With The Ancestors that let participants connect with their roots in a candlelit room—using mats, cushions, and weighted eye masks for a deeper reflective experience—as Halloween neared.  FOX 56

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On Monday, the Lackawanna County Children's Library hosted 'Gross, Weird, Cool Science' for kids to explore unusual animals and natural wonders such as black apples and tree-climbing fish—Susie Maguire led the event that sparked curiosity among attendees.  FOX 56

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Today, Scranton city council will vote to allow the city to apply for nearly $315,000 in grant money to repair The Lookout scenic overlook—which has suffered from years of wear on its 90-year-old structure and missing rock edges that have caused safety concerns for visitors.  PA Homepage

HEALTH NEWS

  • Edward’s Garden Center in Forty Fort is hosting its Fall Wonderland event this October to raise funds for Type 1 Diabetes research by selling $10 tickets for a maze, corn pit, and scavenger hunt. The Kopecs, who started the fundraiser three years ago, hope to exceed last year’s $18,000 total by October's end—gaining support for ongoing research.  PA Homepage
  • Wilkes-Barre Area cheer and football teams raised $1,795 during their pink-out game on October 10 to support the Cancer Wellness Center for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The fundraiser surpassed its $1,500 goal—helping fund free care for cancer patients.  WVIA
