Good morning, Scranton.

Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine held its 16th Annual Turkey Trot run on Sunday morning in Scranton—raising funds to help feed 4,000 families amid SNAP delays from a government shutdown.

The event featured a 5K/10K race and fun activities for children.

Valley with a Heart will distribute 2,000 bags of donated food to families at a warehouse near Wilkes-Barre starting at 1 p.m. Saturday as cars have already lined up since 3 a.m.—organizers say a federal ruling to release SNAP funds will delay benefits until November, so some families may not receive aid in time.
