- ➤ After Keystone Mission closed, Saint Anthony’s Haven in Scranton stepped in to provide extra shelter, food and warmth to homeless residents during Code Blue conditions—officials warned that as freezing temperatures persist, available space may soon run out. PA Homepage
- ➤ Calvary Cemetery in Drums will join Wreaths Across America on December 13th to honor over 2,000 veterans buried there. St. Jude Knights of Columbus Council 6440, led by Grand Knight Mark Shade, aims to place 500 wreaths—if possible 2,000—each costing $17 with an extra $5 added for another wreath. WNEP
- ➤ NEPA Builders partnered with FOX56 and 84 Lumber to award a new roof to Jillian Campbell, a mother of three who needed a roof replacement after a summer storm and a cancer diagnosis in July. Nominations for more families in need will be accepted around the start of football season next year. FOX 56

- ➤ A LendingTree study shows that speeding tickets for going 11-15 mph over the limit raise car insurance premiums by about 26.6% in Pennsylvania, ranking it the ninth highest among states. The state points system adds three points for such tickets—sometimes causing a 15-day suspension in work zones. PA Homepage
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Geisinger will start work next year to add a neonatal intensive care unit for newborns at its Scranton hospital—part of a planned $50 million expansion that will also add new postpartum beds, upgrade the nursery and expand emergency areas. The city will propose zoning changes on Thursday to give the health system the flexibility it needs to grow. WNEP

- ➤ NEPA FC, a new semi-professional soccer club, announced tryouts that will be held on November 17th and November 20th at the Dome Sports Complex—offering local athletes a chance to develop their skills. The team will compete in the United Premier Soccer League and may form multiple squads if enough players join—paving the way for future local talent. WNEP
