- ➤ The St. Francis of Assisi Food Pantry in Scranton helped about 900 families last month and expects to serve more in November. Its kitchen served nearly 10,000 meals and will prepare 15 turkeys—along with trimmings—for Thanksgiving while staff ask for non-perishable donations and volunteers. WNEP

- ➤ Scranton and Wilkes-Barre will honor the Rev. Joseph Murgas on Saturday from 1—4 p.m. as current mayors reenact his wireless tone system messages using Morse code while local institutions display his pioneering work in radio communications. WVIA
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Scranton City Hall announced a new Code Blue shelter for people experiencing homelessness as cold weather nears and after the closure of Keystone Mission's shelter earlier this year. The city is working with Catholic social services to open locations at Weston Field and Saint Anthony's Haven along Olive Street—Saint Anthony's has 26 beds available when temperatures fall below 20 degrees. - ➤ Sen. Fetterman detailed in his memoir that his relationship with Gov. Shapiro soured when the governor did not endorse his run for lieutenant governor and voted against pardoning two inmates.
