- ➤ Dozens of University of Scranton students volunteered on Sunday at the Friends of the Poor—Catherine McAuley Center along E. Elm St to pack Thanksgiving meals for 150 families in Hilltop and Valley View housing. The 49th annual program ensures that these families receive a full festive feast on Thanksgiving Day. WNEP
- ➤ Hundreds of local women and supporters ran in the Girls on the Run 5K at PNC Field in Moosic on Sunday to celebrate youngsters who finished an eight to ten week program that built their confidence—families and friends cheered them on to the finish line. PA Homepage
- ➤ On Saturday, the Jefferson Township Lions Club near Mount Cobb hosted a free community holiday meal that featured turkey, stuffing, green beans, cranberry sauce, and dessert—volunteers said the event allowed them to give back and connect with neighbors. WNEP
- ➤ On Sunday, community members gathered at Veterans Park in Edwardsville to decorate the Warrior Tree—honoring about 450 local service members in a special ceremony. Santa Claus also appeared in a parade—marking an event that celebrated those who serve. WNEP
- ➤ Churches from First Baptist Church of Pittston and Holy Mother of Sorrows in Dupont are preparing Thanksgiving meals for families in need—volunteers served 400 families last year and expect to serve 800 as demand grows, and they will deliver meals Tuesday for those unable to pick them up. - ➤ Fred Tallaksen, a well-known dancer and choreographer who started at Gail Ercoli's Dance Studio near Scranton, returned home to teach a dance class and share his love for the art. He used his work in musicals, TV shows, and pop commercials + is writing a book to tell his story. FOX 56
