- ➤ Recent house fires displaced residents in northeastern and central Pennsylvania as eight homes burned in Mount Carmel and firefighters worked for over two hours in Wilkes-Barre to manage a blaze that forced people from a home in Eynon— the American Red Cross provided fire safety tips and emergency help. - ➤ Kevin Fitzgerald, the chief technical officer at Rock 107 and Shamrock Media, said the team climbs the 296-foot WEJL radio tower behind the Scranton Times building to light nearly 480 bulbs for the holiday season. With the building and lightning rod, the tower reaches 385 feet — the tradition has been kept since 1960 as a major local event watched by thousands. FOX 56

- ➤ Students in a Lackawanna County school district are learning life skills to help them make better choices and reduce juvenile offenses. The Scranton School District uses the Character Strong program—taught by counselors, social workers, and safety officers across 15 schools—and will launch a restorative practice project in December with a grant from the All One Foundation. - ➤ Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday warned residents to watch out for holiday scams by saying they should shop with trusted retailers — avoid paying with cryptocurrencies, wire transfers or gift cards. - ➤ Scranton officials and the Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency have issued a Code Blue Frigid Weather Alert for Thanksgiving as temperatures will drop into the teens. Emergency shelters will open at St. Anthony’s Haven—409 Olive St and the Community Intervention Center—445 North 6th Ave; residents are advised to prepare by checking vehicles and taking necessary safety measures. - ➤ On Monday morning at Giseinger CMC, Lackawanna County Highway Safety Department and PennDOT warned drivers about the risks of impaired and distracted driving during a holiday safety meeting.
