- ➤ Community organizations met at Lackawanna County Courthouse Square on Wednesday at the Columbus statue to honor those hurt by colonization and racial violence—organizers launched a campaign to move the statue to the Everhart Museum where it will feature an exhibit honoring the Lenape people. - ➤ Little Angels’ Closet—a veteran-owned shop—is donating 25% of its sales to Rescue Pets Serving Vets to help at-risk animals become companions for veterans. Founder Alexis Posluszny said the shop is asking for more clothing donations as living costs rise while the rescue nears its goal of 3,000 dog adoptions. FOX 56
- ➤ Volunteers gathered at the Scranton Cultural Center on Wednesday morning as the Family to Family Food Basket Program returned to downtown Scranton with Friends of the Poor, serving over 4,000 meals to residents before Thanksgiving. Volunteers packed baskets with turkeys, pumpkin pies, and other fixings—helping many local households—and will seek donations for a Christmas food drive. WNEP
- ➤ Luzerne County will host its 10th annual Middleswarth Potato Chip Eating Contest at Sabatini's Bottle Shop and Bar on November 29 at 11 a.m.—about two dozen competitors will race to eat as many chips as they can in five minutes while the event benefits the NEPA Pet Food Pantry. WVIA

- ➤ UGI announced a gas rate increase set to begin December 1 which will raise the average monthly heating bill from $118.43 to $119.49 and may help eligible customers secure energy assistance via LIHEAP starting December 3. WNEP

- ➤ Community members gathered at Abington Heights High School for a fundraiser that raised over $5K for the athletic department. Fred Beans Mazda hosted a test drive event where more than 100 drives helped fund 22 sports teams—supporting local school athletics. The Abington Journal

- ➤ Toyota of Scranton will hold a blood drive on Dec. 2 in honor of John Santiago’s daughter and John Nesbitt’s late wife to help with a regional blood shortage—AllOne Foundation and Charities are asking for donations at Miller-Keystone Blood Center while six drives are planned around Northeast Pennsylvania. - ➤ On Tuesday night, November 26th, Luzerne County Council unanimously approved Tenor Health Foundation’s plan to borrow up to $72 million in tax-exempt revenue bonds to finance the purchase of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. The deal is part of a larger plan to buy three hospitals, including two in Scranton, and it includes an $850,000 annual payment in lieu of taxes; officials say the purchase will close before year end (aiming to stabilize regional healthcare). - ➤ On Thanksgiving Eve, Scranton marked the start of the holiday season with the WEJL Radio tower lighting and fireworks before residents headed to local bars.
