COMMUNITY NEWS

  • A Scranton church served a free Thanksgiving dinner to more than 400 local residents who received warm meals and support—organizers also held a clothing drive to help those in need. The church will continue to offer support with weekly supper church meals and a free takeout dinner on Christmas Eve.  FOX 56
  • Nay Aug Park is hosting its drive-through Holiday Light Spectacular where families enjoy dazzling light displays with free admission. The show runs nightly from dusk until 10 p.m. through January 7—donations help support the event.  FOX 56

CULTURE NEWS

  • Members of the Ballet Theatre of Scranton will offer free weekend Nutcracker performances at Theatre at North to celebrate the group’s 50th anniversary—a tradition begun by founder Constance Reynolds that has honored local support for over five decades.  WVIA

  • WVIA News' Roger DuPuis and FOX 56's Bob Ide reported that the Southern Columbia Area Tigers are headed to the semi-finals in high school football—Penn State remains in search of a new head coach while Luzerne County Community College readies its basketball action.  WVIA
