COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Shoppers enjoyed warm lights and a variety of handcrafted gifts, gourmet treats, and cozy alpaca wool products at the 13th Annual Buy Local Holiday Marketplace held at the Scranton Cultural Center (inside the Masonic Temple). The first 1,000 guests received a free reusable bag from Peoples Security Bank & Trust as part of the event focused on supporting local businesses.  FOX 56
  • The Steamtown National Historic Site’s holiday train ran on Sunday at Moscow Station to bring cheer and raise funds for station maintenance—local fans, including kids meeting Santa, enjoyed the 40-minute ride followed by a two-hour station visit. The 16-year-old excursion continues each year to help support upkeep costs and preserve local train history.  WNEP

EDUCATION NEWS

  • All Saints Academy in Scranton dedicated its gym court to late student Lenny Zupon—remembered for his lively spirit and generosity—after years of fundraising led by his mother Mary Jane. Family and friends shared fond memories of how he brightened their daily lives.  WNEP

HEALTH NEWS

  • The 'Light the Night for Autism' event was held at Sugarloaf Golf Club and was started by the Collaborative Autism Movement—an organization that supports autism families—and offered free food, hot chocolate and fun activities to nearly 400 people. The event helped families enjoy the holidays while connecting with others who understand their challenges.  FOX 56
  • Today, WVIA's Roger DuPuis and Lydia McFarlane discussed the No One Dies Alone program, which links Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine students with patients at Allied Services Hospice in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre—offering vigilant company when loved ones cannot be present.  WVIA
