  • An 8-year-old pit bull/mix named Scooby is ready for adoption at the SPCA of Luzerne County in Bear Creek Township as rescue workers say he is well-suited for families seeking a calm, house-trained companion. He has been at the shelter for a year and is now improving his behavior.  WNEP
  • The Lackawanna County Transit System kicked off its 16th annual 'stuff the bus' drive this morning in Scranton — community members can drop off new, unwrapped toys at designated locations to be distributed through Toys for Tots so every child enjoys a Christmas surprise.  PA Homepage
  • A downtown Scranton church will open a bakery training program for formerly incarcerated people in January at Cypress House Bakery (located at St. Luke's Episcopal Church). Board member Ken Goody said the initiative will create a support network for vulnerable residents.  WVIA
  • Today at Electric City Tattoo, families can drop off a toy in memory of TJ during the Talarico Toy Drive from 2:30 to 5 p.m. — donors receive free photos with Santa and enter a raffle for a gift card.  FOX 56

HEALTH NEWS

  • Healthcare leaders met Friday morning at Geisinger’s offices for a roundtable hosted by Congressman Rob Bresnahan in Scranton. Dr. Oz and regional representatives discussed the upcoming Rural Health Transformation Fund and challenges facing rural hospitals, EMS, and clinics.  FOX 56
  • Beginning in January, Pennsylvania Medicaid will stop covering weight-loss drugs like Ozempic used solely for obesity while still covering them for diabetes and other conditions. Affected recipients are receiving letters (with appeal guidelines) from the state.  WVIA
