COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ This Christmas, Senator Marty Flynn will distribute 2,000 bikes to children in need from a warehouse in Pittston as part of a program that grew from a few dozen bikes 12 years ago (a discount secured with local Walmart support). School officials will coordinate bike pickups for eligible kids. FOX 56
- ➤ Local residents are divided over a hometown hero banner outside Biden’s childhood home, installed two weeks ago by the Green Ridge Neighborhood Association. Many question the display since Biden did not serve in the military (threats on social media have raised concerns for the family’s safety). PA Homepage
- ➤ Dallas Twp Police Department partnered with LVHN and Misericordia University's Cougars for Autism Awareness Club to roll out the Blue Envelope program that gives drivers with autism a free document (providing tips for safe police interactions) and plans to expand it to other Luzerne County departments in the new year. - ➤ Mike Gallacher, the new owner of Slingshots Bar and Grill in Moscow, opened the pop-up bar Jingle Christmas with festive decorations, limited-time cocktails, and holiday activities (trivia nights, live music, and an ugly sweater contest) that runs until January 10. FOX 56

- ➤ On Monday, a PPL spokesperson explained that new energy deals for data centers will not raise home bills because customers must pay for grid upgrades — rate hike discussions aim to protect affordability as transmission fees may drop with added capacity. PA Homepage
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ PPL's final public hearing on its proposed rate increase is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wilkes University's Henry Student Center in Wilkes-Barre. The Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission will gather local voices and expert testimony before making a decision on July 1. FOX 56

- ➤ 28/22 Sports Night will cover NFL playoff updates, Nick’s Army Navy experience, and local basketball today. Hosted by Nick Zelaya, Alaina Losito, and Ricky Turner, the show airs Monday-Friday from 8-9 p.m. and features local high school and college players and coaches (with commentary on pro teams). - ➤ The Lady Wildcats, led by seniors Mia Gifford and Katelyn Nunez, continue a strong legacy as they aim for district champs this season. Coach Ed Harrison says the team practices daily and features promising freshmen Rheagan Wargo and Meghan Rath (hoping for a postseason run). WNEP
- ➤ The Holy Cross boys basketball team defeated Holy Redeemer after a late fourth-quarter run in a tight home game — a decisive win for the Crusaders. WNEP
- ➤ The Hazleton Area girls beat North Pocono in a game where Bindas scored 27 points for the Cougars, giving North Pocono its first loss of the season. WNEP
