- ➤ On Saturday, the Black Scranton Project hosted a Kwanzaa open-mic jam (featuring local bands) along North Main Avenue where performers shared their skills and visitors explored Kwanzaa history displays; proceeds supported the project. WNEP
- ➤ John 'Stanky' Stankovic, a Nanticoke-born polka legend, died on Dec. 25 at age 89. His band, Stanky and the Coal Miners, brought traditional polka music to events and TV broadcasts while he served as a volunteer firefighter (a local favorite) and inspired his community's love for music. WVIA
