EDUCATION NEWS

  • Gov. Josh Shapiro addressed West Scranton High School graduates on Wednesday night. He shared how early setbacks—like flunking out of his pre-med program and being cut from the basketball team—led him to follow his own path and announced a 38% rise in state funding that will upgrade local school facilities.  WVIA
  • Seniors from West Scranton High School graduated this evening and heard remarks from Governor Shapiro—who said students can succeed with work, trade school, military service, or college and noted state investments in our public schools. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On Wednesday, June 11, the Pennsylvania House passed HB 1549 — a bill that raises the minimum wage through a tiered system with new rates starting in January; the measure, supported by Rep. Jason Dawkins, now moves to the Senate for review. Supporters say the proposal will help workers earn a livable wage across counties.  WNEP
