- ➤ Lackawanna County judges chose Brenda Sacco as the new county commissioner on September 4 — ending a months-long search after Matt McGloin’s resignation — and also named Lauren Bieber as county clerk of judicial records to replace Mauri Kelly who retired Tuesday. The appointments will stay valid until successors are elected. WVIA
- ➤ Scranton is soon installing new high visibility stop signs—featuring red flashing LED lights—to keep drivers and pedestrians safe at busy intersections. The signs are part of Mayor Paige Cognetti’s plan to revitalize downtown and lower crash risks. PA Homepage
- ➤ Lackawanna County Commissioner Matt McGloin resigned in February and his exit has sparked a monthslong battle to pick a successor—local leaders are carefully navigating the replacement process. WVIA
- ➤ Officials said e-bikes and e-scooters have caused challenges for trail operators and local police as they urged riders to use safety and courtesy—Lackawanna County asked the state Supreme Court for an emergency order to block the appointment of a replacement for former Commissioner Matt McGloin until appeal rulings are resolved. - ➤ Geisinger representatives and local treatment centers provided Narcan—an overdose reversal medication—and shared addiction support information at the Lackawanna County Courthouse on Thursday as part of International Overdose Awareness Day.
